Hello! I’m a freelance journalist who writes about architecture, design, and culture. I’m also a runner. My dog’s name is Tina. I live in Brooklyn, New York.

Prior to the freelance life, I was an editor at Architectural Record magazine for five years (most recently the News Editor). In addition to happily flying around the world and the country to see buildings and talk to the architects who designed them, I helped edit Record’s residential sections and annual Record Houses issue.

These days I still contribute regularly to Architectural Record. My work has also been published in Architectural Review, Metropolis, Surface, CLOG, Curbed, Wallpaper*, and the Steel Institute of New York’s Metals in Construction magazine. I help the renowned design firm Rockwell Group with writing and editing. (Read more about my work in the other sections of this website.)

I grew up in Western Massachusetts and went to The George Washington University, where I studied journalism. After graduating, I wrote for a few New England newspapers before moving to New York. My first job in New York (thanks to Marjory Garrison) was at M+R Strategic Services, which holds a special place in my heart.

I went to graduate school at Columbia University where I earned an M.A. in journalism and took a lot of humbling classes at the Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation. A shortened version of my thesis was published on Design Observer/Places Journal.
